Walk 6: Loughrigg Fell & Grasmere
Allow around 3 hours + breaks
A fantastic walk from our back door which has wonderful views across Lake Windermere and towards the central fells, up to Loughrigg Fell and down into Grasmere. It is a truly lovely walk which allows you to explore the fells all the way up to Grasmere lake.
The Walk starts from the back door of Nanny Brow which leads out onto Fishgarth Woods. The a path through the woods takes you up on to Tod Crag were you will get great views looking down Lake Windermere and over Ambleside and surrounding mountains, such as Wansfell, Langdale Pikes and the Fairfield Horseshoe. From Tod Crag you will walk to the summit of Loughrigg Fell. From the Summit you will start you’re decent down to Grassmere where there will be great views looking over Grassmere lake and Village. The path will take you down to the shore of Grassmere Lake which then leads you up to Red Bank and then a short walk into the Village.
Once in Grassmere, we recommend you stopping in Emma’s Dell for some refrshments and cake! We also recommend grabbing some of the famous Grassmere Ginger Bread.
To get back to Ambleside from Grassmere we recommend getting the 555 bus which will take you back to Ambleside.
