Took my wife to Nanny Brow for 3 nights as a surprise for her to celebrate our 40th Wedding anniversary, I am so glad I did.
There is no point in repeating a lot of what people have already raved about regarding the furnishings, breakfasts, and the staff as it is all fantastic with all the little extra touches to make it more memorable.
Nanny Brow is unique as a B & B and certainly knows the type of clientelle which would appreciate it like we did. This has obviously been a labour of love for Susan and the family over the years which you have to admire.
The one thing that did impress us above all was the level of customer service we received, it was professional without being intrusive, and the younger members of staff Olivia & Milly set a standard that most established so called luxury B & B's and Hotels only dream of.
I would highly recommend Nanny Brow, me and My wife cannot wait to return.
Thank you to you all for a very welcome break.
Fabulous arts and crafts house with comfortable rooms
No effort has been spared to finish this classy b&b with authentic furniture . It’s a lovely blend of original and modern , antique beds with good modern mattresses , powerful showers and of course the sort of customer service we expect today . The location is central for lots of walks including a good long one into Skelwith and around a lovely tarn from the back of the property . Breakfast choices and quality is first class , fresh vibrant fruit salad and locally sourced cooked full works if you want . Good value for such a lovely property.
We honeymooned at the Nanny Brow when it was a country house hotel and had been back since but not for many many years. It was simply beautiful and has such a calming feel about the place. Susan and her husband have worked their magic and thoughtful touches are everywhere, such attention to detail, information, pictures and exquisite furniture. We stayed in the Whitwell suite which is gorgeous, we came back from breakfast on the day of our silver wedding anniversary to find the bed decorated with rose petals and a beautiful anniversary card. What a lovely surprise. I must mention the amazing breakfasts. Proper thick bacon and the best eggs poached eggs I've had in a long long time. The fresh fruit salad for breakfast is amazing, the effort that goes into the beautifully prepared and presented food is obviously and appreciated as well as the yummy cake/shortbread that appears daily for your room. Yummy! Also the choice of tea in your room is fabulous. We had a wonderful stay and look forward to returning. Ps the dogs and cat are delightful.
There just aren’t enough superlatives to describe the Nanny Brow experience. The warmest of welcomes await from the hosts Sue and Pete, who go the extra mile to ensure that your needs are catered for. Their attention to detail is second to non with each of the rooms being individually decorated to the highest standard. Truth be told I’m struggling to find fault anywhere. The breakfast menu is extensive and super delicious, with everything made fresh to order. The drop scones with blueberries and maple syrup was to die for and the addition of the best bacon I’ve ever tasted was just heavenly. I can’t wait for my next visit; wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else. Thank you Sue and Pete.
Stayed for three nights in early May. Beautiful room and views. Excellent breakfast. The hosts, Susan and Emma struck exactly the right balance, being very welcoming and attentive but not too intrusive.
Nothing was too much trouble and we will certainly return.
It was everything we were looking for... and more... I only wish we could stay for longer.

Elegant and friendly
Having stayed in a number of places in and around the Lake District this beautiful luxury B&B is one of the best, the room was elegant, large and spotlessly clean, the owners were friendly and helpful and even managed to help us get into a fully booked restaurant at the last minute. If you try the Nanny Brow, whatever you do don't leave without taking a walk out of the back of the building to the top of the garden/woodland for amazing views of lake Windermere. Thank you Sue and co we will be back.
We needed and helped us recharge our batteries in wonderful comfort. I was particularly struck by the young members of staff who were clearly keen to make a good impression on your behalf and were smiling, helpful, polite and willing to engage in communication.
Dream the night away in any of our individually designed rooms. Comfortable king beds and armchairs with flat screen television, complimentary Wi-Fi and hot drinks tray, all designed to relax the senses.
