Spectacular mixture of formal grounds and woodlands
Nanny Brow sits high on a rocky crag off the side of Loughrigg Fell, on the edge of six acres of private woodlands and landscaped gardens. Encircled by semi-ancient woodland, low lying fells and the River Brathay, Nanny Brow boasts views over some on the most spectacularly peaceful countryside in the Lake District.
A stroll through the gardens takes you from the formal sun terrace to steep mature gardens, rich in colour and feeling whatever the season. From the formal gardens you can enter our private woodlands with steep undulating paths, becks and bridges. We have red squirrels, deer and owls that regularly frequent the woodland and lawns.
We highly recommend that you take advantage of our direct access onto the fell side offering spectacular views over Lake Windermere and the surrounding areas. Here, you can continue to Lily Tarn, Todd Crag and Ivy Crag, each with commanding vistas of the surrounding area.
For a longer walk, you can continue on Loughrigg Fell to Rydal and Grasmere or Skelwith and Elterwater, and then simply hop on a bus back to Nanny Brow or meander your way back exploring new sites. All of these walks and more can be found and explained to you by the team at Nanny Brow and our walking book.
Dream the night away in any of our individually designed rooms. Comfortable king beds and armchairs with flat screen television, complimentary Wi-Fi and hot drinks tray, all designed to relax the senses.
